Agency Data Survey

Many of the Texas parks and recreation agencies, therapeutic recreation or adaptive services etc. have closed facilities e.g. senior centers, recreation centers or playgrounds; while a number still are providing some level of service or access to trails, golf courses or open space, so long as social distancing is observed. The TRAPS & COVID-19 Agency Survey is being sent to agency directors or representative to:

  • Assess the status of parks and recreation amenities and services and the impact of COVID-19 to them.
  •  Share results of data collected with TRAPS leadership, agency directors and/or membership.
  •  Post updates on a regular basis e.g. weekly.

TRAPS encourages you to complete this survey weekly.

TRAPS Organization Updates

TRAPS staff is working from home; thus, day-to-day operations should not be interrupted. If we are not available by phone, please email.

TRAPS is closely monitoring the situation and following updates and recommendations from the Center of Disease Control and PreventionTexas Department of Health (DSHS COVID-19 Call Center 1.877.570.9779, M-F 7 am-8 pm).

We encourage all members to follow the recommended protocol of washing hands with soap and water multiple times a day for at least 20 seconds or use hand sanitizer (60%+ alcohol); avoid touching eyes, nose and mouth with hands; staying hydrated; and stay home if you are sick or feeling a bit “under the weather”.

Here’s how the Texas Recreation and Park Society is specifically responding:
  • Over the next 60 days, TRAPS has a limited number of events, the majority of which are less than 50 participants. TRAPS staff and leadership will evaluate training events and meetings on a case-by-case basis to determine steps to be taken e.g. cancel or re-schedule, virtual meetings or training alternatives or proceeding as scheduled.
  • Assessment of an event status will include consulting with regional directors or planning committees, site hosts, attendees, and county/ state health department/CDC for multiple perspectives on the situation.
  • Should any organizers of TRAPS affiliated events be particularly uncomfortable holding an event, then they should consider cancelling or rescheduling.
  • Should the need arise TRAPS staff has the capability to work from home; thus, day-to-day operations should not be interrupted. If we are not available by phone, then emails are the recommended method of communication: email.
