Board of Directors Nominations and Elections

Nominations for the 2027 TRAPS Board of Directors are now open.

This is an opportunity to make a meaningful impact on the profession, connect with peers across the state, and represent the voices of parks and recreation professionals. If you’re ready to grow your impact, now’s the perfect time to get involved. Submit a nomination by August 14!

New board members will be installed at the Annual Institute this February in Irving.

Positions available for nomination –

President-Elect
At-Large Director 2
East Region Director
North Region Director
South Region Director

Description of each position –

President-Elect This is a three-year commitment–to serve in the capacity as President-Elect, President, and then Past-President. Candidates should be prepared for considerable time commitments related to various meetings and for travel requirements.
 

At-Large DirectorsThis two-year term represents the state on the Society’s Board of Directors. Commitments include serving on various standing committees and attending four board meetings. 

  • At-Large Director 2– Athletics & Aquatics Branch, Commercial Branch, Park Operations and Planning Branch, Institute Planning Committee

Regional Director (East, North, and South)  Requirements include the responsibility of coordinating and/or hosting annual training workshops, attending four annual board meetings, and serving on various standing committees. This is a two-year term of office.

Eligibility:

President-Elect:

  • Must be a TRAPS member in good standing and reside in the state of Texas.
  • To be eligible for President-Elect, a member must have served as a duly appointed or elected Board member for at least twelve (12) consecutive months immediately prior to the start of the President-Elect term.
Board Member:
  • Must be a TRAPS member in good standing and reside in the state of Texas.
  • Applicable experience serving on a TRAPS Committee, Task Force, or other applicable parks and recreation related board for at least twelve (12) consecutive months is required.

Nominations and Elections Timeline:

Week of July 13: Nominations Open
August 14: Nominations Close
August 20: Slate of Nominees approved at Board meeting
September 3: Ballots emailed to all eligible voters per TRAPS Bylaws and Constitution
September 17: midnight: Ballots due
September 21: Election Ratified by Board of Directors
September 25: Announcement of elected board members
February 2026: Installation of new officers at TRAPS Institute in Irving, Texas
