Samantha Toback was dreaming about how TPWD would celebrate the April 8 total solar eclipse before she even worked for the agency. Once hired, she served as a beloved member of the State Parks Outdoor Education and Outreach team as the Texas State Ambassadors coordinator and in just a few years made a major impact on the agency and every person and volunteer that had the pleasure to work with her. Although Sam was taken too early, at the young age of 31, her co-workers and friends rest a little easier knowing she got to see the celestial event she had been dreaming about for years. Donations can be made in Sam’s name to the McDonald Observatory or the Texas Parks and Wildlife Foundation.
