Dear TRAPS Members,
We’ve all seen the heartbreaking images and stories coming out of the Central Texas floods. Some of our members and their communities have been directly impacted—some tragically so.
Many of us knew Jane Ragsdale and Dick Eastland through the Central Texas camp community, and we also recognize that several members have lost friends or have close ties to others who did not survive. It’s hard to put into words the weight of that loss.
We’ve heard accounts of camp staff who did everything possible to protect their campers—even at the cost of their own lives. It’s truly heartbreaking. But it’s also a reminder of the kind of people who make up this profession: people who show up, who care deeply, and who put others first, even in the worst of circumstances.
In honor of those lives lost and the communities now rebuilding, we invite you to take action:
Tie a green ribbon
Following Jen Basham’s lead, we invite you to tie a green ribbon around a tree in your park or outdoor space as a symbol of support and remembrance.
