I attended Texas State University and received a Bachelor of Science in Recreation Administration with emphasis in Therapeutic Recreation in December of 2014. As a CTRS, I have spent time working with people in a psych setting, a community setting with youth, adolescents and adults with physical disabilities. I am currently working at Morgan`s Wonderland as the Recreation Therapy Director running programs for Morgan`s Wonderland Sports and the STRAPS (South Texas Regional Adaptive and Para Sports) program in San Antonio. We serve those with physical disabilities and/or a visual impairment as well as expanding into working with individuals with cognitive disabilities through sport. I enjoy working out, camping, hiking and overall FUN! I have a great passion for recreation, practicing it every chance I get and looking forward to see what the future holds!
Chair Elect – Damaris McGlone | Brownsville
I was born in Walnut Creek, CA. In 2006, I Graduated from California State University, Chico with a bachelor’s in Recreation Administration option in Therapeutic Recreation and a minor in French. My previous job was Assistant Parks and Recreation Director for the City of Brownsville where I started in Jan 2014. Prior to that I worked for the City of Austin Parks and Recreation Department as an Inclusion Coordinator as a CTRS helping those with special needs access recreation services by creating success plans for the participant working with their family and site staff. Before that I worked in Reno, NV as a CTRS with children and youth with psychological and behavioral disorders using recreation as a therapeutic tool to work through the challenges they faced in life and learn how to overcome obstacles. Currently, I serve as the Parks and Recreation Director for the City of Brownsville working on enhancing our current operations and enhancing our parks and recreation services to the community especially for those with special needs since that is a huge gap in the city in order to ensure equity, wellness and nature/conservation efforts. One of my passions has been travel and see what other national & international cities do to offer exceptional quality of life for their communities.

Hey y’all! I am from a small country town called Luling, Texas. I work really hard and play even harder! Texas State University is where I received my Bachelor’s in Recreation Administration with an emphasis in Rec Therapy. Recreation has always been a big part of my life, whether it’s floating down the San Marcos or Guadalupe River, or enjoying a nice run through a local park or trail. Currently, I am a Recreation Therapist at Laurel Ridge Treatment Center in San Antonio and I contract with clients in the community. I also teach cooking classes with the City of New Braunfels to help spread the many benefits of recreation to as many people as possible. By nature, I am a connector and I enjoy making new connections with people who have the same kind of passions and interests in advancing our profession and I look forward to serving the TR branch.
