TRAPS CARES
Summer Survival Series
TRAPS Cares about you! We know our members are entering or about to enter, what is for many, the toughest season of the year and we want to support you in the best way we know how. TRAPS is launching a new Summer Survival Series to help you and your staff make it through this busy time.
TRAPS Summer Survival Series will focus on a new theme each summer to provide you with resources for yourself, your staff, and your community. This summer’s theme is “Mindfulness,” and to help us with our theme we’ve joined with Katie Garrett, CPRP and mindfulness practitioner from McHenry County Conservation District in McHenry Co., Illinois to bring you a series or roundtable discussions and exercises over the coming months.
Overcoming Burnout with Mindfulness: Build A Sustainable Mindfulness Practice
August 17 | 12:30 – 1:30 pm
The summer is coming to an end, our camps are wrapping up, big summer concerts are ending, we’re saying goodbye to summer seasonals, and we may have a sense of overwhelm, burnout, and even sadness. There is no doubt this has been a trying summer for us all as we continually adapt to new regulations and prepare as best we can for the unknown. Let’s wrap up our summer with a chat about mindfulness, self-compassion, and resiliency. Mindfulness is the practice of staying in the present moment and getting the most out of every situation and interaction. We’ll talk through how a mindfulness practice can help at work and at home, and how to start or maintain a practice that fits into your life.
Learning objectives
- Discuss some hot button topics around stress, burnout, and overwhelm and learn how mindfulness can help us deal with stress better.
- Understand better where our stress originates from in our brain and nervous system, and some tips to calm during a storm.
- Leave with suggestions for mindfulness exercises and tools to start or maintain a practice that fits in your daily life.
