Certified Playground Safety Inspector Course

Sponsored by the National Recreation and Park Association (NRPA), the Playground Safety Inspector Certification Course provides the most comprehensive and widely recognized training available on playground hazard identification and risk management.

Advanced reading and 12 hours of classroom instruction by nationally recognized playground safety experts will prepare you to sit for the Certified Playground Safety Inspector (CPSI) Exam, offered on the day after the course completes. The course includes classroom instruction, resource materials developed especially for the course, and CEUs (optional).

Delegates who successfully pass the CPSI exam will be certified for three (3) years. Renewal of certification may be achieved through a re-examination process.

Other Requirements are as follows:

  • Absolutely no walk-ins allowed.
  • Books and resource materials will not be sent until full payment is received.
  • POs are not accepted as payment.
  • Advanced reading prior to attending the school is strongly recommended.

Refunds/Cancellation

CPSI cancellation requests must be made in writing to the Texas Recreation and Park Society (TRAPS) state office. A processing fee of $50 will be assessed for cancellations received up to 31 days prior to the first day of class.  Cancellation requests received 15-30 days before the first day of class will receive a 50% refund. Additional book fees may apply. Allow six (6) weeks after the course/event to receive a refund. No refunds less than 15 days prior to the first day of class.
